FROM SEMINARIAN KHOA TRAN
Dear Parishioners,
We are walking on the Lenten journey. Just as God’s people in the past walked in the desert for 40 years towards the Promised Land full of milk and honey, each day we live with joy and hope to move towards heaven.
The determination to return to heaven is the driving force for us to live every day in this world. Therefore, in this weekend’s reading of the letter to the Philippians, Saint Paul earnestly reminds each of us, even with tears, that “our citizenship is in heaven.” No matter how preoccupied we are with building our career, family, position, fame and other earthly realities, we still should not forget to look towards the destination of our life, which is the Kingdom of God.
How can we set our hearts and minds on heaven amidst the chaos of life today? The answer comes from this weekend’s gospel reading. Let us place our life’s support in the heart of Jesus to first find peace. In the face of the storms and challenges of life, have the courage to listen and follow the words of Jesus, the One whom the Father truly loves. Only through Him, with Him and in Him, can we enter and possess the eternal land as our ultimate inheritance. Our journey following Jesus to the Kingdom begins today.
