Good evening and apologies for the late sending of our weekly Flocknote. We have had quite a busy week at Sacred Heart, celebrating many sacraments both joyful and sad. Please join me in praying for and welcoming all of our RCIA candidates who are being initiated into the Church tonight and next Friday evening. Let us pray also for the McGettigan, Hummel, and Devers families as we mourn the loss of their loved ones with them.
We were also blessed to host the annual Archdiocesan Seminarian Retreat, sponsored by the Office of Vocations. The event was a joyous and prayerful occasion in which the seminarians gathered together for the first time since Christmas. Let us be reminded to pray for vocations to the priesthood, deaconate, and religious life.
We will not be using a Mass sign-up this weekend. After a month of trial and keeping track of Mass attendance, we have found that we are not nearing our capacity, so we do not need to track it ahead of time. As we near the Fall, this may no longer be the case, in which case we may bring back the sign-up. Thank you for your patience.
Our pastoral year seminarian, Maurice, has completed his time with us and will be transitioning back to seminary soon. His last official weekend will sadly be this weekend. Father Jerry will be giving Maurice a blessing after the 9:30 and 11:30 AM Masses this weekend. We will be hosting a (physically distant) farewell "gathering" in the courtyard between the 9:30 and 11:30 AM Masses this Sunday, July 19th. We hope you will join us! There will be a table to write cards or notes and a box for cards as well.
